Ready for Spring

Can tomorrow really be March 1st - already? Another year is flying by, and the girls are making the most of every day... and exhausting us in the process! Yet again it's been quite awhile since I've posted - rather than feeling apologetic, I think that it stands as proof for how time seems to disappear on us!

Our household seems to be in a permanent teething-stage - or at least it feels that way! Since the holidays we've "welcomed" 10 or 11 new teeth between all three girls? Poor Ryann has been working on two top teeth for about a month - we can see the dang things, but they won't pop through! Hadley and Brynley each have four top teeth and two bottom, while Ry has 2-3 top (haven't checked to see if the one has broken through in a few days so perhaps we'll say 2 and a half) and 2 bottom. I'm hoping they get a break from teeth for awhile - that way they can just be their ornery little selves without the "extra" ornery that the teething brings out!

Ryann is walking everywhere, and is now trying her hand at climbing... her favorite thing to do in the morning is to climb into/onto the activity table. She's just so proud sitting in there, can't help but smile! Hadley thinks it looks pretty fun as well, so now she's trying to climb in there - when Ryann sees her coming she gets out and runs away... Bryn and Hadley have been beating up on her lately and she's had enough! Hadley seems pretty close to walking - she'll take a couple steps and then lunge/fall forward. Trav and I are pretty sure she'll just go straight to running - that girl is a terror! I don't know how many times a week Travis and I look at each other and just shake our heads about something she's doing or did... let's just say we're going to have our hands full with her alone! Her latest favorite thing to do is to give "bear hugs"... why is "bear hugs" in quotations you might ask? That is our very nice way of saying that she loves to tackle her sisters! In fact, she'd tackle Travis and I if she could - we're just a little more solid than her sisters - who are not fans of this kind of hug. Hadley also likes to wrestle, she's gotten pretty good at pinning Brynley, who, again, is not a fan. Brynley - oh Brynley... she's a bit on the dramatic side. Everything is fun and games until someone takes something she has or wants, then it's facedown on the floor temper-tantrum. It would probably have a bigger effect if it didn't happen a dozen times a day! She just gets soooo mad! We're having so much fun watching their little/big personalities continue to develop! Bryn and Hadley trade off every so often, and watching them interact with one another is amazing. We're starting to have periods where everyone plays so nicely together - during those times we just kind of hold our breaths and try not to move! The girls have all gotten very good at giving love... Ryann gives love to pretty much anything soft - it's about the cutest thing I've ever seen! Hadley loves to mimic her, but is pretty stingy at giving love to us when we ask for it. Unsurprisingly, Hadley doesn't really like to do anything we ask her to do - she does things on her own time. Brynley is just starting to give us hugs - she's kind of in between the other two, where she has to be in the mood, but if she is in the mood, she gives her love freely!

Mollie continues to work with them on their signing... They have "milk" and "more" down the best, but "all done" and "please" are the other two we see most frequently. Oh - and "dog" - they love dogs, not sure how much dogs love them (Hadley also "hugs" the dogs... ugh). Earlier this week Hadley was signing along with Baby Signing Time - she did "hat", "please", and a few others... granted, I don't think she knew what she was signing, but it was fun to see her copying the babies on the video!

The girls all sound like they're talking... but we can't understand anything they're telling us! I hear MAMA quite a lot - pretty much anytime anything is wrong "MAMAMAMAMA"... We also hear Dad(a), but we're not sure if they really are "talking" yet. Actually, the only word I tend to understand from each of them is "dog" - go figure.

Each of the girls has gotten very good at playing "roll it" - we roll or throw the ball back and forth. Their attention span has improved, but about the longest they'll do anything is maybe 5 minutes? Aside from dancing - I think Hadley could dance for hours!

This age is so much fun - they pick up on things so quickly and LOVE to imitate. The thing is - they don't just imitate us, they imitate each other... meaning at dinner, when one decides it's hilarious to rub mac and cheese in her hair, they all think it's hilarious. Or, if one things she should smash and throw food all over, so do the other two... needless to say, meal times are extremely messy.

My next post is already titled: "a typical day in the life of..." I've started this post numerous times, but then always seem to get called away (shocking I know). We often get asked what our day is like, or how we survive... We follow pretty much the same routine every day - and by 8 pm, we're all exhausted! Happy almost spring - the girls, Travis, and I are all ready to be able to do more outside! I've posted just a few pictures below...

  1. They are so darn cute. How much fun you must be having...exhausting fun! Olivia (my 2 yr old) is also a tackler/hugger. She could take Abbie (my 5 yr old) any day. Abbie is also not a fan. It is so fun to see how different your girls are becoming. Thanks for the new post!
