First, to quickly recap the last week or so... We took the girls out to eat (Buffalo Wild Wings) before Gama headed home - Trav and I have decided we're even willing to tackle doing it ourselves. The biggest 'problem' is just getting into the restaurant. The girls aren't getting any lighter - do I dare wish that they could walk?! nah - I just need to work out more! We enjoyed some nice weather before it became winter once again - even got a few walks in. However, with the return of winter also came our first "bug"... Ryann has been dealing with some disgusting stomach bug since last Wednesday/Thursday. At first, I thought it was just her getting a tooth - her diapers are a sure sign of a tooth, but this was something new. Travis then blamed the eggs (they had scrambled eggs for breakfast); however, since she'd already had a couple of nasties before breakfast, I doubted that was the problem (Trav still thinks we should stay away from eggs...). Anyway, sure enough - she's caught something and is still not quite back to normal. Hadley seems to have [finally] gotten some form of it as well - now we're just waiting on Brynley.
Overall, Ryann has turned into one giant snuggle-bug. She's likes to "love" on anything (and everything) soft. I have to admit, it's pretty darn cute. She also likes to throw balls - her arm is getting pretty good, though her aim needs a bit of work. Last week she was throwing the ball back into the hippo (Trav informed me tonight that it's actually a dinosaur, but I'll stick with calling it a hippo) and sort of nailed Hadley right in the head... at least we think she was aiming for the hippo. Hmmm, maybe not? Since Ryann hasn't been feeling the best the other two have been ganging up on her - the poor dear gets it from both of them - poking and stealing frogger... just general orneriness, always entertained around our house!
In other news - Bryn is back to her fun cheesy self! She 'returned' early last week, with the new-found ability to get down after pulling herself up. Yes, you've probably heard of those children that sometimes have trouble with this - I'd be willing to bet that most go through this dilemma at some point - it's just they go through it much faster than our Bryn... We've decided she is definitely not our daredevil (ahem, Hadley) - and it must have just looked too scary to try. But last week it was so cute, on Monday we'd need to be next to and count it out for her "Okay Bryn, let's get down on 1, 2, 3" and then she'd sit. By Monday evening we just needed to count. Then on Tuesday, we would just suggest getting down (and of course cheering when she did). She'd slowly reach down til her fingertips touched the ground, then she'd go... seriously cute stuff here. By Wednesday she was a pro... too funny, it only took her a month and a half to work up the nerve! Love my girls!
Hadley is our mover and our shaker... she's is always on the GO! She gets behind one of those push-cart-thing-a-ma-jigs and I swear she sprints. Why do I have a feeling she's not simply going to learn to walk, but rather will learn to run? Yikes. She is also definitely a toddler - she has a "pooping corner" - it's one of her favorite places to play and do her business. Hadley LOVES the dogs - a little too much. Right now all the girls are fascinated with eyes and ears - the dogs don't really appreciate them trying to grab either... not to mention their tails (though they're less irritated by this). Her favorite is to give them kisses... unfortunately her kisses are open-mouth - yep, you just "eeewed" didn't you?!
When the girls aren't fighting with, or stealing from one another - they're actually starting to play together as well... Their tunnel is a source of huge laughs - one or two of them go in the tunnel while the third stands outside and pokes at them. It draws HUGE laughs and giggles every time. It's so much fun to see them play together - they'll play peekaboo with one another, as well as "mine" - which is a super fun game where one sticks out a toy or lovey and "pretends" to give it to the other. Mind you, it's "pretend" because if the other actually takes it from the one playing the game is over and ends in tears. However, if everyone plays by the rules - it's just a bunch of sticking out toys/loveys and then "MINE". Like I said, super fun. In addition to "Mine", the girls like playing roll-the-ball with mom and dad. Bryn is probably the best at it - she loves to roll the ball back and forth with either Travis or me... She is NOT a fan of playing with her sisters - I guess she's worried they might steal it? Who knows...
Travis and I got to go on a day-date this past weekend. Mollie gave us tickets to the Creighton basketball game on Saturday, along with babysitting - so she and Adam watched the girls while we went and grabbed a bite to eat and then went to the game. It was so nice to be out! I think it had been at least 6 years since I'd been at a basketball game! And it was the FIRST time someone other than our parents watched the girls while we went out... we're growing up.
That's about it for now. We're hoping the stomach bug is on its way out... we'd also like a break from new teeth (5 or 6 news ones between the 3 of them since Christmas). All of them decided to get their fangs rather than their front teeth - that should make for some really cute pictures in a few months (nope, not normal as our doctor informed us). I haven't really taken any new pictures since their birthday... Need to get on that. Anyway, some friends posted a couple articles over the past few weeks that I've really liked and thought I'd share them on here... til next time... Happy January!
