20 Weeks...

Let's see - what has all happened this week... Gama and I got to have the girls all to ourselves for a couple days this week while dad (Travis) interviewed and house-hunted up in Omaha. Let's just say we were THRILLED to have him return home Wednesday night... 2 on 3 is exhausting - man-to-man works much better, especially in the evenings! However, we made it through and to be honest, it could have been worse. Especially after the Monday we had - for whatever reason the girls were 'off' and it was simply not a good day. Still - THANK YOU TRAVIS FOR ACTUALLY RETURNING HOME! ha! Now let's just hope he gets a 2nd interview from one of those companies...
We've made great strides in the sleep category. In fact, Ryann slept until 7:50 this morning (went down in her crib about 9:30 last night) and yesterday (Friday) Hadley slept until 7:00 (also in bed around 9:15 or so). Ryann and Hadley kind of trade off as to who gets up the latest - with one or the other waking up around 5:00 or so. Brynley is our little stinker - she still usually wakes up around 3:00 or so, but it's getting better! She also eats the least amount of the three, so we're sure that has something to do with it as well. At any rate - we're all getting a bit more sleep these days and we're all that much more pleasant to be around (most of the time). I still get up twice a night to visit with Rita, but I can't really complain about that since it's by choice.
The girls were given the okay to switch to infant formula - as opposed to the Neosure (22 cal for Preemies) they've been on. They adjusted really well, and this seems to move through their systems much better. No constipation issues these days - sorry if that's too much info, but poop is a major topic in this household! We went with Enfamil Infant formula per the recommendation of our doctor - so if any coupons come your way that you're not using, we'd be happy to take them off your hands! Even though they get about half breastmilk and half formula - we still go through a can/bag in about a day and a half! And yes - I have contacted Enfamil and they have sent us some extra coupons and a couple free cans!
We're amazed to see what they learn from day-to-day... they're all grabbing clothes, burp clothes - anything they can get their mitts on! Ryann has a couple favorite toys that she'll hold onto and try to eat... drooling the entire time. These girls DESTROY burp cloths - Ryann goes through two every time she eats and the other two are getting almost as bad. Guess that's all part of the ball game. They all still love it outside - whether we're out for a walk or out on the back patio, it's usually quite calming.
We've begun planning for our trip up to Rolla next weekend - our list keeps getting longer and longer... it will be quite an adventure, and as several people have told me - they can't wait to hear how it goes (this is usually with laughter in their voices). So, I suppose the next update will report exactly that! Happy Memorial Day weekend! The pictures below are some fun ones from the week.

Batting, Grabbing, and Laughing

Yep - I'm a little behind on things... somehow the last couple weeks got away without any updates. The time I usually devote to photo uploading and blog writing was used instead on making photo books for Mother's Day - doesn't take long to get behind, and then the days just sort of pass on by and the things on my "to do" list carry on over... I have a feeling it's just going to get worse!
Anyway, a belated Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's out there. I told Travis that it really wasn't my first Mother's Day since we've had Tehya 6 years now! However, I will admit, this one was a bit more special. I still sometimes find it hard to believe that we have three little babies - it's almost like we're living someone elses life at times! Yet, I know we wouldn't trade it for anything. So, on to the girls and what they've been up to in the last couple weeks...
Sleeping has improved though we're still waiting for the day they ALL sleep through the night - just til 6, that's all we're asking! They have all cut it down to [usually] only one bottle during the night. Our bedtime routine starts between 8:30 and 9:00 (though there have been a few nights we've started much earlier - we can only take so much fussiness!) The girls usually take their last bottle pretty well and Ryann and Hadley both go down pretty easily... Ryann especially - the girl goes out like a log. Brynley on the other hand - she's a tough little cookie and it usually takes a rock with each of us before she finally goes out for good. She is now entertained at bedtime with the fish projection up on the ceiling - that girl likes her fish (the fish swing is still her favorite) - and spends at least a little bit cooing and talking to her buddies. It's really hard not to be amused... Then it's anyone's guess on when they'll get up! We've been surprised too many times that we no longer try to predict who will be up first. Typically Brynley wakes up first and then the other two wake later on. Ryann's had a couple nights in a row where she slept 9 and 10 hours - but we think she might be going through a growth spurt since the past two nights she's been the first one waking up hungry! Needless to say we've bumped the amount she's eating! At any rate, we're all getting more sleep than we were - though we still have room for further improvement!
The girls have all started grabbing everything over the past couple weeks - it's both cute and annoying all at the same time! Cute when they're grabbing toys and whatnot, annoying when they're grabbing at the burp cloth while we're feeding them! Hadley and Brynley are still the 'talkers' - they're sweet little voices have gotten a little louder and we're hearing new sounds daily. We've officially documented Ryann's first laugh! She had let out a giggle here and there over the past month, but now she does it on a regular basis and I can honestly say it brings tears to my eyes when I hear it... nothing sweeter than a baby laugh!
They've all been practicing rolling over - I think it's Gama's mission to get them rolling over by the end of the month. They're all getting pretty close - Hadley and Brynley lift their heads to high and really look like they're trying to tilt on over. Ryann is just so darn strong that she swings/kicks her legs and about flips herself. She's getting a little better at tummy time, but isn't as big of a fan as the other two. So - as I sit here writing this - I can hear Brynley in the front room talking to Gama and it's cracking me up... she really loves to have conversations.
Aunt Mary Jo came a week ago and helped us out while Gama went home - Grandpa had a surprise party for her birthday! The girls were excited to meet Mary Jo and I think we all had a good time while she was here. Probably the most amusing thing that happened was when she arrived at our house from the airport - the girls were all napping (went down at 10:30 am that morning)... they proceeded to nap until 2:00!!! This is not normal for them, and I had to laugh that it was on the day that Mary Jo arrived - she was so itching to get her hands on them, but did wait until they woke up! The weekend went by in a hurry, as they tend to do, but Mary Jo got some quality time in with each of the girls and they all enjoyed lots of playtime!
With our house on the market we're having to keep things a bit more picked up and organized - which is difficult with three babies making a mess (okay, it's mostly us making the mess, but it's really their fault somehow). We've had a handful or so of people come through the house, and it gets us out of the house on a nice long walk. The girls continue to love it outside and we've been lucky that the weather has actually been wonderful down here - with a few super hot days thrown in, but better than most years!
Travis is starting to interview for a couple different jobs up in Omaha - it would be nice if he found something before we decide on a house to rent! Or at least it would narrow down location choices! That's about it in our world.... gotta get back out there and play with the girls! Below are a few pictures from the last couple weeks - we've fallen behind in taking pictures as well!

4 Months Young

The girls had their 4-month doctor's appointment this afternoon... how can it be that they're already four months when just yesterday they were so itty bitty?! I recently looked back at some of the pictures from the first few weeks they were born and it's hard to remember them being so little... Anyway, their doctor's appointment went well and they are beginning to catch up both developmentally and physically! We're hoping that they do as well with the shots as they did at their 2-month appointment (so far so good). So, for the details...
RYANN GALE
Ryann has hit the growth chart in every category! She weighs 10 lbs 9 oz (3-5% percentile), is 22.3 inches long (5th percentile) and her head is 15.3 inches (10th percentile). However, the left side of her head is a little flat - she favors looking to her right - so we have to do some neck/head exercises. He wasn't too concerned yet, but it's funny because just this weekend I mentioned to Gama that her head was flat... guess that gives us something to work at!
BRYNLEY CADE
Brynley is still our little peanut... boy does she make us laugh. Lately she has wanted to have 'conversations' at bedtime or at 3 in the morning - it's hard to be made when she coos in her sweet little voice. The night Gama returned from Belize she decided that 2:00 am is the perfect time to talk to Gama! She has hit the growth chart in two categories - height and head circumference. Bryn is our little snacker - or rather, would LIKE to be our snacker. It doesn't quite work with the schedule we need to keep. She weighs 9 lbs 14 oz (<3%), is 22.3 inches long (5th percentile) and her head is 15 inches (3rd percentile). I'm pretty sure she's actually more like 10 lbs - she decided to give us a 'present' right before leaving for the doctor's office!
HADLEY MARIE
Hadley still tends to be on the dramatic side and can go from sweet to beyond mad in about the blink of an eye. She is also 'talking' up a storm, and especially cracks us up when she sneezes... It's ACHOO ahhh - ACHOO ahhh - sweetest little ahhhh I've ever heard. Hadley weighs 10 lbs (<3%) - and has been eating like a horse the past few days! She's 21.8 inches (<3%) long and her head circumference is 15.5 inches (10-25th percentile) - and here we thought Ryann was the one with the big noggin!
OTHER NEWS
It's official - our house is on the market, the sign was posted this afternoon. I'm excited, stressed, and anxious all at once. We're definitely looking forward to being up in Omaha - it's just the moving process that has me worried. We tend to forget about the move and whatnot - the girls keep us pretty preoccupied. They still love their walks - just being outside seems to offer them some enjoyment. They're all so close to laughing - right now they have the silent laugh down pat. We're also all getting a bit more sleep these days... though we're always looking for improvement. Last weekend Ryann went 11 hours Friday night and 9 hours Saturday night! However, Sunday night it was back to only 5... we really can't complain (too much) - they usually give us a 5-6 hour stretch after they go down for the night. Unfortunately we don't capitalize and go to bed right after they do! It's kind of nice to unwind and relax for awhile before hitting the sack. That's about all for now - it's been a long long long day, and as I've told other - these babies are killing off my brain cells! Below are a few pictures... Happy May Day!
